STAGE ONE

FOR THIS STAGE, I AM FOCUSING ON THE WORK OF DAVID BATCHELOR AND TAKING INSPIRATION FROM HIS FOUND MONOCHROME SERIES OF PHOTOGRAPHS. I CHOSEN TO BASE MY SHOOT IN MANCHESTER, TRAVELLING AROUND DIFFERENT PARTS TO CAPTURE MY OWN MONOCHROMES.

DEVELOPMENTS

A SERIES OF DEVELOPMENT WORK DONE ON PHOTOSHOP TO EMMULATE THE WORK OF DAVID BATCHELOR. I USED THE LASSO TOOL TO HIGLIGHT THE AREA I WANTED TO WHITE OUT, AND THEN USED THE PAINT BUCKET TOOL TO FILL THE HIGHLIGHTED AREA TO BE WHITE.

FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS

A SERIES OF DEVELOPMENT WORK DONE IN THE DARKROOM TO EMMULATE DAVID BATCHELORS WORK IN A DIFFERENT WAY. I USED PHOTOSHOP TO CREATE DIGITAL NEGATIVES OF MY CHOSEN PHOTOGRAPHS AND THEN TOOK THEM INTO THE DARKROOM TO USE THE ENLARGER. THE ENLARGER ALLOWED ME TO LAYER THE DIGITAL NEGATIVE OVER A PIECE OF PHOTOGRAPHIC PAPER AND THEN I USED BLACK CARD TO BLOCK OUT THE AREA I WISHED TO STAY WHITE. AFTER DEVELOPING THE PHOTOGRAPHIC PAPER IN DARKROOM CHEMICALS IT CREATED A HANDMADE VERSION OF THE PREVIOUS DEVELOPMENTS I DID ON PHOTOSHOP.
